Nordic Trade Union Congress 2019

Malmö, Sweden 3-5 September 2019

Welcome to the 3rd Nordic Trade Union Congress. The Congress will be held at the Quality Hotel View in Hyllie outside of Malmö in the Östersund-region, 3–5 September 2019.

It has been four years since the time we had a congress in Køge, Denmark in the spring of 2015. Those of you present at that meeting probably remember that we discussed the interaction between the EU and the Nordic Collective agreement model. This time, as we meet again for a Nordic Trade Union Congress we will pick up where we left off, with the difference that this time EU/EEA will be the main theme while perspectives are widening. Except for the interplay and challenges between the EU/EEA and the Nordic collective agreement model we will discuss the relationship between the European cooperation and our welfare systems.

With EU/EES as a starting point we will also discuss challenges for democracy, economy, the future of work and ways forward for the Nordic trade union movement. Based on the discussions during and conclusions of the congress the task is to develop a mutual Nordic Trade Union Strategy on European Affairs for our members.

The Congress “Building bridges” describes us in the Nordic Trade Union Movement, trade unionist bridge builders for competition and sustainability; Within the Nordics and between Europe and our region.

See you by the bridge!

A warm welcome,
Magnus Gissler
