nfs decent work conference

2-3 October, Riga

We have the pleasure to invite you to the BASTUN Autumn meeting and NFS Decent Work Conference to discuss how to ensure Workers’ rights in a Nordic-Baltic perspective. The event will take place in Riga 2-3 October and precedes the World Day of Decent Work later same week. Please note that the date, that previously was set to the 3-4 October, has been changed due to the ETUC Congress Preparatory Committee that will be assembled in Brussels the 4th of October.

  • BASTUN priorities for the meeting departures from the priorities that was presented by the next presidency, which are Mobility of Labour under fair conditions and prevention of Social fraud, Strengthening Social dialogue and working for more balanced representation between TU and Business interests and Data protection.
  • The theme of the NFS-conference on Decent Work is aiming on the first pillar in the Decent Work agenda and will, in a Nordic-Baltic perspective, focus on Nordic companies in the Baltics, OECD:s Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises and ILO:s supervisory mechanisms.
Among the speakers are Irena Liepina, president BASTUN and Vice President LBAS, Karl-Petter Thorwaldsson, President NFS and LO Sweden, Sharan Burrow, General Secretary of the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC), Pierre Habbard, General Secretary of the Trade Union Advisory Committee to the OECD and Kirstine Drew, Senior Policy Advisor, also at TUAC.
